Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced SBA Lending Manager to lead our small business lending initiatives. The position of SBA Lending Manager is responsible for the development and growth of the Bank’s SBA Lending Division and will be responsible for managing and hiring a team of SBA professionals while producing and growing their own portfolio. Candidate will work directly with the Bank’s executive team in the establishment of policy and procedures and will be relied upon to ensure proper underwriting, approval and processing channels are put in place and followed according to current SBA SOP standards.

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience navigating lending regulations and market dynamics in NV, AZ, and UT.

Responsibilities

1. Manage and hire team of SBA loan producers, underwriters and processors to meet the Bank’s annual goals.

2. Source loans that meet SBA 7a and 504 requirements and are within the Bank’s credit profile.

3. Establish relationships and manage the process of 7a guarantee loan sales.

4. Work directly with the assigned SBA office to qualify the Bank as a preferred lender and receive its PLP status.

5. Provide input on policies and procedures to ensure they meet current SOP requirements.

6. Stay up to date on SOP requirements and suggest and implement changes in process and procedure where necessary.

7. Represent the Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business.

8. Reinforces the application of superior customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with involved customers and employees.

9. Updates and corresponds with legal counsel and collectors on workouts, bankruptcies, and charge-offs to ensure all possible precautionary actions or measures are taken.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) or equivalent from a four year college, or 10 years related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a SBA lending background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Expert knowledge in SBA Lending including production, underwriting and closing processes.
  • 3 to 5 years managing a successful SBA team that has sourced, underwrote and closed both 7a and 504 SBA loans.
  • 5 to 7 year track record of sourcing both 7a and 504 loans, while meeting loan goals.
  • Expertise in 7a guarantee loan sales. Able to leverage existing relationships to support future sales.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current SBA SOP requirements.
  • Expert knowledge of SBA loans including commercial real estate, construction and C&I.
  • Expert knowledge of SBA cash flow construction and analysis as well as the ability to structure credit recommendations within SBA terms and guidelines.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of related state and federal loan regulations and other Bank lending policies.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and members of the general public.
  • Basic skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, host computer system, and word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Basic typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Basic math skills, calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages, balance accounts, add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, locate routine mathematical errors, and compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with normal problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
